Fit for Royalty
Last weekend, my kids and I checked into the Doubletree Castle Hotel in Orlando for a night, on our way back home from South Florida. You may be thinking I must have young children, since I chose this hotel, but I'd don't. I selected it for purely selfish reasons--I just wanted to see it and feel like a princess for a day. Plus it was pretty reasonable, by Orlando standards.
So we pulled up to the big, pink building and I was all like "Oooooooh look, it's a castle! It's so pretty!" My kids rolled their eyes at me, as I skipped into the lobby. They gave us chocolate chip cookies at front desk, and we went to our room. The room wasn't super fancy, but it was nice and the decorating was so-very cute! There was also music playing over the speaker--Renaissance music, to be exact. I sat in the princess chair for a while, and admired the room, then went down to check out the pool, which was nicely heated and had a lovely fountain in the middle of it. This hotel got it all right, as far as the theme. Everything down to the doors are in-line with the castle theme. And I was happily surprised to locate Cafe TuTu Tango adjacent to the pool area, since it's one of my all-time favorite restaurants.
The next day, I packed up the car and drove away from my little fairy tale, back to the hustle and bustle of normal life. But hey, who am I to complain? I got to be princess for a day...
