New A.C. Unit! Woohoo!
I've been in my new (old) home for three years now, and this week, dh and I finally had to break down and get the air conditioning unit replaced. Well, not all of it, just the upstairs unit. It was old and not efficient. Oh yeah, and the air conditioning didn't work very often. Well, it worked sometimes--just not when it was really hot outside.
So today I am sitting at home, surfing the 'net and catching up on paperwork, as workers go in and out and in and out and my three dogs are going absolutely batty. Call me crazy, but I actually kind of like having work done around the house. It makes me feel like something is really getting accomplished, while I just sit in my office pushing papers.
Anyhoo...I've been thinking about my home lately and all the stuff I have in it. You can accumulate a lot of stuff over nearly 20 years of marriage and when you through two kids into the mix (now a pre-teen and teen), you can be busting at the seams with stuff, stuff, stuff. I don't really consider myself a packrat, but I could still stand to get organized. As I was thinking about all this, I got an e-mail from someone at Real Simple magazine, pointing me to a few recent features in the magazine. I really like this one: Home Inventory Worksheets, because it has downloadable sheets so you can get super-organized and know exactly what's in your home, just in case you ever need the info. While you're there, also check out What Is Your Favorite Speed-Cleaning Trick?, and share some of your own (at the end of the feature).
