Tackling the Corner
A certain corner of my great room had been very sad lately. I'd been moving things around, and although I was pleased with the outcome, this corner was left pretty much empty. I placed a large, fake tree there for a while, but it just didn't work. You know, when you do something to a room, and it just screams at you every time you walk in? It says something like "Look, I know you're busy, but I'm dying over here! Don't I deserve a little attention? C'mon, find something cute for me already!" Yeah, it was kind of like that for me. That corner just wouldn't leave me alone.
So I started looking around, and finally decided that I needed either a small table or shelf unit for the corner. I have some lovely artwork hanging there already, and I didn't want to have to move it. So I searched online and found this: a Fretted Folding Shelf from Pier1.com. I visited my local Pier 1 and it was perfect, perfect, perfect, so I snatched it up! I also picked up this Bulatan Accent Lamp, which looks so great on the shelf that even my kids noticed. I filled the rest of the unit up with framed family photos, some small artwork on an easel, and an Esque candle and voila!--decorating problem solved. My once-bare corner looks so fabulous, I may have to work on the rest of the room now...

Thanks for the link to the fretted shelf. I've been looking for shelves for a Japanese-themed room, and haven't found any that looked right. These are really versatile, I think they'll look great with Asian decor!
