My New Nook
In most families, the kitchen is the heart of the home. But in my home, the home office seems to win that title.
I don't know why...well, I take that back, I think I do. My home office used to be my home office and hardly anyone else came in there much. But since we added a computer, my son discovered Halo online, and my daughter's teachers started putting homework online, the home office has been getting much more use. Even when my kids are not on the computers, they still seem to be hanging out there these days, doing homework, talking on the phone, bothering me while I work. (It's okay. I'm used to it.)
So instead of a couch in the room, I had two chairs in front of a large window, and three separate work areas took up most of the rest of the space. (I can't have couches in there because the dogs will lay on them and ruin them. Been there. Done that.) But one of the chairs I had in the room was ugly and uncomfortable, and the other was comfy but getting old and really, really starting to stink. It was time to a redo.
I needed a place for people (my offspring) to sit, but I didn't want to make it so comfortable (like by using recliners) that they never leave. Also, the seating couldn't take up a lot of floor space. I need space for my three dogs (a Golden Retriever, a Corgi, and a Lab) to sprawl out and relax. And since they look out the front window all day long, they needed a clear path.
So I hit a sale at Pier One and here it is, my new home office sitting area, featuring glass tables and hand-woven banana bark chairs:
Decorating mission: accomplished.

I love those chairs! They look so exotic yet classy. Pier One is definitely one of my favorite places to go to. I dream of furnishing my home with stuff from there one day!
