Lakewood Market Finds
Since 1984, antique-lovers have flocked to the Lakewood Antiques Market, which is held the second weekend of every month in Atlanta. You can find more than 1,500 vendors on the 13-acre spread, which includes five enclosed buildings and a food court. And the best part of all: the Market is pet-friendly, so you can bring your dog with you! Just make sure to leash your baby--cars are in and out of the place for pickups.
Some of the purchases I've made over the years at Lakewood include:
- stained glass windows
- a huge, round dining room table with pedestal base
- old steamer trunks
- vintage Coke crates
- metal locker bins
- vintage books
- a 1940s bedroom suite for my daughter
- and lots of vintage jewelry, particularly rhinestone brooches, necklaces, and bracelets.
You can also find some newer items at Lakewood that are great for home decorating. One of my favorite vendors offers Fiestaware seconds, and some of the imperfections on these pieces are almost impossible to find. Over the past few years, I've amassed a complete service for 16, including place settings, serving bowls, pitchers, platters, and other items.
Below you can see some items I've picked up at Lakewood. The cameo bracelet, Fiestaware, and Guatemalan handbag (just $10!) were all purchased this weekend.
