Back and Feelin' Fine
I just got back after five days on the South Carolina coast. Spring break is over, the kids are back in school, and I am creating my list of "things to do", which of course includes some redecorating projects.
Have you ever walked into your home, after being away for a while, and thought "oh man, I have to change some things around here." Well I do it all the time. So yesterday, when I got home, it struck me that I live in a very dark house. Okay, I know, I wanted to live in the woods. Well not exactly the woods, but on four very wooded acres in the suburbs. So I am going to find a way to lighten things up around here.
I was also thinking about decor when I arrived at the condo we rented near the beach. I am embarrassed to say that when I walked into the place, the first thing I thought was "what are these people thinking? That kitchen wallpaper is a nightmare." Then, as my kids (and daughter's boyfriend) were laying around all week, laughing, watching movies, and creating all those great Spring Break memories that childhoods are made of, I thought "who cares about the wallpaper? It's a place for us to get away, spend time together, laugh, eat, and discover things like alligators, sand dollars, and dolphins leaping in the distance as we walk on the beach."
So I realized that decorating is nice, and I like it. A lot. But I don't want decorating or anything else that clutters up my mind to make me lose sight of what's really important--how well we live every single day, and how much we enjoy the time we all get to spend together. No new area rug, fabulous paint color, or scrubbed pine kitchen table even comes close to the feeling of being part of a close, loving family.

Glad we could accomodate you with the weather when you were down last week, it's a might bit chilly this week :) As for the condos, they rent those out year round, guess they wanted something that would wash easily :)
